Vision

In my role as a UX/UI Designer at this innovative startup, my mission was clear: to deliver the ultimate user experience while crafting elegant and intuitive UI designs. I understood that even the most complex processes should be approachable and delightful for our users. To achieve this, I engaged in extensive collaboration with the Head of Product, Art Director, and Founders to deeply understand our product and goals.

My journey with Knights of Degen began as we refined existing concepts and explored diverse design approaches for new ideas. This collaborative journey culminated in polished designs. It also involved close collaboration with our development team, where I bridged the gap between design and technical implementation.

Steps

As I delved deeper into design assets, it became evident that swift updates were necessary before progressing with the creation of additional screens and games.

So we approached applying the best design practices to improve current UX/UI and launch it to beta, then get community feedback and enhance the app.

So here are specific project goals and steps that needed to be accomplished:

✅ Improve App UI/UX with best practices.

✅ Implement updated branding across screens.

✅ Establish a deisgn system for scalable consistency.

✅ Develop new in-app games (PropQuest & Degen Tournaments).

✅ Promote the game to attract new users.

⏳ Gather community feedback.

⏳ Enhance the app for an improved user experience.

UI Components

As we worked on refining the entire app design, it became clear that establishing a design system was essential. With numerous screens already in place, maintaining long-term consistency was a top priority.

We initiated the creation of a design system, implementing a 4px spacing system and atomic design system approach, configuring essential styles and variables, and meticulously crafting all necessary components. While this aspect of design requires time and effort, I derive immense satisfaction from knowing that everything is now organized in one central location, ensuring ongoing consistency.

The Game

Working on the game was truly captivating. Here's a brief overview of PropQuest:

PropQuest is a simple yet immersive game. We've taken the best elements from the world of betting and made them accessible to everyone—for free.

Each day, you'll receive 100 Units and a selection of props from multiple sports. Put your sports expertise to the test as you make your predictions and earn points. You can also boost certain props using Game Changers.

And to add to the thrill, the daily top performers will be rewarded with $DGEN tokens.

One challenge we faced in the project was creating illustrations. With a small team consisting of just me and my Creative Director, we didn't have an illustrator on board. To overcome this, we utilized AI-generated images as placeholders when we couldn't find the right image in our database. Despite the initial hurdles, we achieved impressive results with AI.

Additionally, we introduced Soothsayer, a character who serves as a guide within the Knights of Degen App. This character was added to enhance the gamified aspect of the user experience.

Like any other app or product, marketing is crucial for success, as without it, even the best creation may go unnoticed. Recognizing this, we formed a small team to devise a marketing strategy for the app. After much consideration, we opted for a referral and waitlist system, but to kickstart this, we needed a captivating landing page where users could explore the game and sign up for the waitlist.

Taking charge of this initiative, I designed a stunning landing page in Figma, and then brought it to life on Webflow. You're welcome to check it out by yourself.

Outcome

When we launched the beta test, we saw hundreds of users interacting with PropQuest daily, enjoying the immersive experience it offered. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from the community was proof of the project's success.

At the same time, there remained numerous ideas and milestones we aspired to achieve. However, challenging market conditions and the project's inability to raise additional investments hindered our progress. Nevertheless, we continue to hold hope for brighter days when we can realize our vision of creating the ultimate community experience for enjoying and participating in their favorite sporting events together.
